November Somethings

A few days late (again) but family came first this week...

Reading: I just picked up Burned (House of Night- more on this series tomorrow) from the library.  I started reading The Enneagram: A Christian Perspective finally.  I've heard so much about Richard Rohr's book and about the Enneagram in general, which makes me intrigued about the actual message.  (I read 10 books this month.)

On deck:  I have 11 books to go to reach my goal of reading 100 books this year. I have 4 other library books, including Jodi Picoult's Harvesting the Heart.  Aside from her release this past spring, it's the only book of hers I haven't read.  Also have to review a book for Blogging for Books.  (Doug, check this program out!)

TV: Chuck, Glee, Parenthood, LA Ink, Vampire Diaries, The Office, and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I have to confess that I watch Gossip Girl.  I know I shouldn't but there's something about Chuck and Blair that's so compelling!  Don't judge me too much.  As far as Glee, who else is LOVING it this season?  The character development, the songs, and the storylines are just fantastic...and inevitably bring tears to my eyes.

Movie: Hmm.  I can't think of any movies I watched this past month, aside from cheesy Lifetime Christmas movies and those I already own.  I watched Elf twice since it was on TV and "I like smiling. Smiling's my favorite!"

In my kitchen: You simply must make this Baked Potato Soup posted by Cup-a Cup-a.  It is a new favorite!  I can't believe the depth of flavor from baking the potato and salting it first.  I don't like bacon in soup (I believe bacon should always retain its crispiness) so I skipped that and added celery and mushrooms.  Absolutely divine.  Mary at Giving Up on Perfect posted a fantastic Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread recipe that makes a whopping 3 loaves.  I made it this past Monday (which was indeed still November) and froze 2 of the loaves because while I'd like to eat all 3, it is not in my waistline's best interest. Of note, I used half dark chocolate, half butterscotch chips as that's what I had on hand.  Is anyone else incapable of making a recipe as written?  I think I'm going to use the bread to make a Pumpkin Bread Pudding this weekend.  Stay tuned for the results!

Listening:  I am still obsessed with Neulore!  I was hoping to make it to their album release party on Wednesday but life got in the way.  No matter.  I'm sure I'll catch them live sooner or later.  I've been working on the Ode to Friendship mix CD I create for friends every Christmas so mostly I've been listening to all of my musical obsessions from the past year.  Yes, Neulore is featured.  No, I'm not telling you about any of the others until it's done.

So...what were you into during November?

  2. Thank you for the link! And that potato soup looks GOOD! Sadly, my husband doesn't like ANY kind of soup. I wonder how well this would freeze?
